Projects Committee

The essence of Projects Committee is simple: some people want to work on things, and others want to do things. We hook those two groups up and make a sexy Venn Diagram.

Projects Committee is both A & B.

Project Workshops

Every few weeks, Projects likes to get everyone together in the same room to Get Stuff Done. These are our Project Workshops. This quarter (20112), we are planning three: Week 3, Week 6, and Week 10.

Week 3 Workshop

Already done! Project leads kicked off and introduced their sweet projects, which you can see below.

A few highlights:

Week 6 Workshop

Also already done! Project leads started off talking about progress to date, then went to get it done.

Some more highlights:

Week 10 Workshop

Singing Tesla Coils

You like tesla coils, right? Rhetorical question. A mixed hardware / software project, this includes making the tesla coils and later writing software to make them sing.

Momentum

SSE's Event Management system. We forked the website project in order to make an epic, all-inclusive project to handle SSE events. This one's going to end up running on the Google TV, the TV in the front of the SSE, and more. Stay tuned!

Hashmask Browser Extension

Password fields on websites aren't particularly usable. This project would put a password visualizer into your browser, automatically generating a seed for each user to keep their passwords secure.

And...to some extent, we're there! It's way pre-alpha, but it's starting to work (insecurely) on some browsers. Contact projects@sse.se.rit.edu for progress, source is in a private Bitbucket repository for now.

RapDev X Continued

SSE just hosted its 10th Rapid Development Weekend effort last weekend, and we'll be continuing development of it. Originally inspired by the moniker 'Advance Wars in Space,' it is a multiplayer game with the server written in Python and a client written in Java.

Model Rocketry

Look forward to our model rocketry events coming Spring quarter! We'll have a joint rocketry presentation/build session before ImagineRIT, and then we'll launch 'em off in a picnic after. Will prove to be plenty of fun!
